Dr. Badri Donthi | Pediatrician
Dr. Donthi completed his medical school training at J J M Medical College, Karnataka, India. He graduated amongst the top 2% from his Medical School. After finishing his Residency in Pediatrics, Dr. Donthi served in a Rural Health Clinic as Consultant Pediatrician for four years, establishing a very successful Pediatric Practice. During his service, he supervised eight Nurse Practitioners and worked very closely with five Family Practitioners overseeing Pediatric Care. It was during this period he developed a special interest in educating and treating under-served and underprivileged population.
Dr. Badri Donthi is a Board Certified Pediatrician since 1998 with extensive training in General Pediatrics. Dr Donthi did his Internship and Pediatric Residency training at the esteemed University at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. There he had the opportunity to work with highly trained Pediatric subspecialist like Pulmonologist, Neonatologist, Cardiologist, Pediatric Critical Care and General Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. During his training he developed special interests in treatment of respiratory illness like Asthma, Allergies, Bronchitis and Sinusitis.
Dr. Donthi has served as Medical Director for Halifax County Health Department for four years. Dr Donthi has maintained admitting privileges at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina for ten years where he served as Chairman and Chief of Department of Pediatrics for one year. From Jan 2003 to Feb 2008 Dr. Badri Donthi served as Solo Practitioner at Roanoke Valley Pediatrics in Roanoke Rapids, NC where he developed a huge and successful practice and he developed a special rapport with the patients making them feel special and cared for. It was because of this Compassion for care of Kids and Knowledge in Pediatrics he was nominated for the Glaxo Welcome CHILD HEALTH RECOGNITION AWARDS in 2000 supported by James B Hunt Jr., Governor, State of North Carolina and Glaxo Welcome Inc. With his vast experience in the field of Pediatrics, he is here to serve Cary, Morrisville and the Triangle Area.
Marquita Lyons-Smith | Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Marquita Lyons-Smith worked at another pediatric primary care clinic in Wake County for 13 years and developed a passion for mental health and neuro-diverse management (Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism). She aims to enable parents to have the resources required for optimal patient outcomes after initial diagnosis and management at the primary care level.
Marquita Lyons- Smith completed her training as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Duke University School of Nursing in Durham North Carolina and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and consulting associate with Duke University School of Nursing. She also coordinates the RN-BSN program at North Carolina Central University, Durham North Carolina and has instructed enumerable prelicensure nursing students and nurse practitioner students along the journey to achieve their professional goals. Most of her professional career has involved nurturing, educated and empowering underserved patients and family members.
Dr. Lyons-Smith is a Clinical Associate Professor, and her academic accomplishments include but not limited to an approved “Healthier Living Clinic” grant, published article promoting Advanced Practice Nursing workforce diversity and an appointment as director of Project Kitty Hawk-RN-BSN option at North Carolina Central University. These accomplishments support her efforts to enhance the healthcare workforce while also supporting adult learners to thrive while leading busy lives. Dr. Lyons-Smith is not a medical doctor, but her academic designation, knowledge and 23 years of nursing experience complement her patient care in the clinical setting. She enjoys implementing empathetic, supportive care for her students, pediatric patient and their family members.
